About:

With education, teaching experiences, and a wide range of piano performance throughout Asia, North America, and Europe, Miki Arimura has a unique eye for talent amongst today's young artists. Having been through the music conservatory system herself since Secondary School in Japan, Ms. Arimura received her Bachelor's degree in piano performance from the Kunitachi College of Music in Tokyo, after which she attended the University of Maryland in Baltimore County (UMBC) in the USA where she earned a diploma in contemporary music performance.

 

With international experiences under her belt, Ms. Arimura then entered the California Institute of the Arts (CalArts) in Los Angeles, where she studied under Vicki Ray, a renowned contemporary pianist, and earned a Master of Fine Arts (M.F.A.). During her studies, she taught other students the piano as a Teaching Assistant and accompanied a wide range of musicians, including artists from an Indonesian "gamelan" as well as musicians from the Japanese film "Maboroshi".

 

Some of Miki Arimura's other public performances include a modern music festival sponsored by the Japanese Embassy in Washington D.C., a solo recital at the G. Nicolini Piacenza Conservatory in Italy in 2014, and a series of recitals titled "Oto no Kokoromi", organized and performed by herself. The first performance was collaboration with Gamelan music at the Kagurazaka Ongaku no Tomo Hall in Tokyo, Japan in 2007 and the second one focused on piano four hands at Garba Hall in Tokyo in 2017. The third one is clarinet, violin and piano at Hikarigaoka Museum in Tokyo in 2019 respectively.

After years of teaching the piano at Akikusa Gakuen College as an assistant professor in Tokyo, Ms. Arimura has been living in Singapore from 2016 where she has opened her own music studio and now teaches piano lessons privately as well as continuing to perform regularly in public. Recently, she has been focusing on social contribution activity through music. She collaborated with National Cancer Center for charity concert called “Harmony Hope” in December in 2017. Since April of 2017, she has been a committee member of the Singapore Music Teachers' Association (SMTA). Ms.Arimura was invited to be a judge at Singapore Asia Youth Arts Festival in 2017. Piara Piano Competition in 2018 and 2020. And Kayserburg International Youth Piano Competition in 2021.

Here at Miki Arimura's Piano Studio, we strive to provide service of high quality. Our lessons are only one-on-one private piano lessons between you and Miki. One lesson is 30 minutes long. We also offer a flexibility for students to continue piano lessons on thier own schedule. Students can purchase a package of four or eight lessons. Times are scheduled based upon instructor's availability.

  • We are not taking any beginners. If you are not sure about your performance level, you are encouraged to take a trial lesson for assessment.

  • Short term lessons provided for competitions or exam
